Restring An Acoustic

A quick demonstration of restringing an acoustic guitar.

We remove the old strings first. Then wipe off the fingerboard and uncoil single string starting with the Low E.

Anchor the ball end inside the bridge hole and place the bridge pin in the hole with the cavity facing towards the headstock.

Keeping the string taut, carry it to the next tuner in line. Trim the string to that length. Use the end of the headstock for the D & G strings.

Insert a 1/8th inch of string into tuner and being winding it onto the post going over the first time, then under on the second pass of the initial winding.

You can tune along the way but generally with find it easier to do once all strings are replaced.

The treble strings are done in a similar fashion with the tuner wrapping the opposite direction. When complete, tune guitar to pitch and play.
